Education
I took my BA in the Humanities with a Music Option from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado in 1968. After having taught music and art at the public high school level for six years, I entered the private sector and worked various jobs as a property manager, commercial printing broker, employment recruiter, customer service rep, and part time instructor at various undergraduate junior colleges. None of those private sector jobs were particularly satisfying to me, and so I returned to school at the University of Denver to get the data and credentials I needed to teach at the college level. I finished my Masters degree in Liberal Studies with an Advanced Certificate in Creative Writing in 1999.
Experience
I have gathered a good deal of experience through my 24 years of classroom and online teaching in college level writing/reading and such specialized Humanities subjects as American Indian Studies and Sociology at various Denver area community colleges, Denver's Johnson and Wales University, and the University of Denver. During the last seven of those years, I was engaged in online teaching which allowed for so much individual interaction between me and my students that that seems to have been the most productive of the teaching methods I have employed. Since most of my teaching was with college level students, I think I am more in tune with college level (under- graduate and graduate), "Advanced Placement" high school students, and with employed persons who are in need of preparational retraining or specialized study for the particular fields in which they are employed. I look forward to working with new students and enjoy those moments when each of them realize the new power gain afforded them from greater language fluency.

Hobbies
Since both my son and daughter are busily leading their lives in geographically opposite parts of the country, I and my wife lead a fairly quiet life. I am working on another novel, with an occasional foray into poetry, and my spouse is devoted to her teaching in the EMS field for Denver Health and Hospitals and Denver's Metro State University, and our darling canine daughter is patiently awaiting our attention. These are our interests, even though the country's political turmoil never fails to intrude.
